15 Flat file CMS systems to get to know for 2015 and beyond #flatfileCMS #Joomla

A flat file CMS is a Content Management System (CMS) that eschews database connection in favor of simple text files which the system uses to dynamically build web page views as they are visited. Its advantage is speed. Because the system doesn't need to "find" the contents of the page from within a database, server response time is faster and page load times quicker. Well that is in theory, just last week I made some speed tests comparing Flat file CMS's with Joomla CMS and found that although the flat file CMS systems in most part outperformed Joomla, properly optimized Joomla sites with a fast template could outperform a flat file CMS making the decision not so cut and dried.

Can’t click the next button when installing a #TP-Link wifi range extender? Here's your #solution

This article is about a very specific problem: Not being able to install/connect your TP-Link range extender because the admin window isn’t big enough for you to see the NEXT button (on the page where you choose which wifi network to connect to). If you can’t see the next button, you can’t click it and you can’t connect or install your TP-Link wifi range extender. Fortunately you have found the page with the solution.

#Google is soon to put #cars without real driver on real roads. #selfdrivingcars

Google is getting ready to put self driving cars on the road.It seams strange because we happily get into cars with human drivers and don't give their ability to drive a second thought but I'm not sure the same will be true when we get into a car that drives itself. I think that might be pretty nerve racking at first. Stupid really, because the multiple sensors and specifically designed software could no doubt be safer than half the crazy people driving on the road.

Ugly car though.

#Insane #parkour in the side of a skyscraper. Watch in HD to give you vertigo.

I don't know about you, but I get an uneasy feeling just holding my camera over a rail on the viewing deck of a tall building.

That's why this parkour on the side of a skyscraper is so nerve racking if not for the person filming it, it certainly is for me, the viewer.

Actually I'm not sure about how I feel sharing something like this. I don't want to be contributing to the demand for dangerous videos knowing that demand drives supply and it's only a matter of time until one of these people makes a fatal mistakes. I'm ok at least with the fact that the risks are obvious and sometimes you can't protect people from there own stupidity (an make no mistake, that's what this is. Stupidity):

Here is the 1st person view of captain insano jumping from pillar top to pillar top in the side of a skyscraper:

Are #women better at multitasking? Maybe it's more a case of this....

I think this should be a thing. We have lots of distractions these days and I think it's important to be able to concentrate. That said, my wife is always busting my chops when I'm concentrating on something so much I fail to respond to her. It's oft commented that men are not as good at multitasking as women, but I maintain...:

Im not bad at multitasking I'm amazing at monotasking

How good is robotic surgery in 2015? This good. Watch a #robot suturing a grape and find out #amazing

Oh and by 2015,.. I actually mean 2014 because this is apparently already a year old, but here is a video of a robot suturing a grape. The machine is apparently capable of flooding origami cranes no larger than a five cent piece.

I wonder what looking back on this will be like in twenty years...

Now, let's put it to some good use like as a high resolution back scratcher. Ahhhhh.

Death to #Whatsapp? A new instant message app with end to end encryption might be your future #killerapp - #Bleep.

OK. I'm not sure this will take off enough to bring a death blow to the popular Whatsapp message service, but if the information I've read about Whatsapp security is anything to go by, I hope so.

Bleep is a new messaging service with real security and privacy features built in. I have yet to try this out for myself, but I already use Bit Torrent Sync and I love it. I'll definitely be testing it out this week and hopefully have an idea know pretty soon if it has the capacity to be a Whatsapp killer. If Bleep did take off, that would mean a big faceplam for Facebook who purchased Whatsapp for a nearly $19Billion.

Leonardo DeCaprio nials the urgency needed in action again #globalwarming

Nothing that damages the environment should be cheap. Oil prices and gasoline price should be way higher, artificially inflated in order to create a financial incentive to research/invent/adopt alternatives.

The same for industry. If it damages this fragile world we live in it should be either prohibited or expensive. Watch how fast we clean things up ouselves when consumers have to PAY for the environmental damage caused by the things they buy.

We need action now and Leonardo DeCaprio's speech at the opening of Climate Summit 2014 sums this up perfectly.

Enter Sandman backwards. #creative #metallica cover.

In my early twenties, my friends an I played around video taping (yes, with video tapes!) eating food and then playing it back backwards. Often we would choreograph things so they they looked like they were forwards when when played backwards.

This guy takes it to the next level and earns his internet stardom with a very nice cover of Metallica’s “Enter sandman” recorded forwards, but performed and sung backwards so that when it was played backwards it would sound like it should if performed forwards. Got it?  Right.

What do you like better? #Airplanes or #Helicopters? Why not both?

Check out Nasa's latest hybrid Airplane/Helicopter: Takes off like a helicopter and flies like and plane.

Actually this idea is nothing new because helicopters have the advantage that the can take off vertically and are more maneuverable, planes have the advantage that they are fast and use less energy to propel themselves.

Nasa have done a great job in creating a hybrid of the two, enjoy this video which shows the plane/helicopter transition from one form to the other.

My amazing parents. Back to bringing school uniforms to New Zealanders for a reasonable price.

I genuinely am impressed. I have complete respect for my parents and the things they have achieved in life. Nobody every gave them anything. They had to work hard to achieve what they have but they didn't do it by work alone they built a successful business by providing a product to families for a better quality at a lower price.

If your interested this is a nice story.

Got a wierd feeling when I saw someone had made "my invention". #inventors and #designers will understand.

OK, so this was wierd…  a few months ago I tweeted about and idea for an invention I came up with quite a long time ago. A set of robots which could manoeuvre under the wheels of a car and lift the car to shunt it to a better parking space.

My idea was that they could be used to correct that problem where one extra wide car or person parking badly causes everyone who parks beside them to park badly and perpetuates until enough spaces are free that things can return to normal.

I mean, how many times have you seen people on the internet complaining about people parking poorly? Theyu are the drivers we love to hate. Often poeple will leave nasty notes or sometimes, or in some extreemes resort to defacing the poorly parket car in question. I always think; "what if it wasn't that cars fault? Maybe it was the car in the park next to them that forced them to park that way and now that other car has left?".

Anyway, it's one of those invention ideas you have by you know you are never going to do anything about it because it's not your best idea, it's not commercially viable ot you don't have the resources to make it happen.

But you want to know whats really weird? When someone else has the exact same idea and produces the product, then you randomly stumble on it one day on the internet.

To be clear, I don't believe someone randomly saw my tweet and then made the product, it would have taken far too long to develop. It's just a bizarre felling to see "your invention" made real by someone else.

This is almost exactly how I imagined a set of robots for moving cars would be:
